Chat, and the purse

The chat your group already has. With the money in it.

Messages, calls and status. Ajo rounds, paying each other, settling a trader, paying a bill. One app, one thread.

Android this September Desktop in October
Messages are end-to-end encrypted. Accounts are in your own name.

Three things a group already does, now inside the thread.

Nothing new to learn. The chat is the chat. The money is a message.

Ajo rounds

Members pay in each round. One member receives that round, and the turn moves on.

Pay each other

Send money to a member in the thread. The group sees the message, not your figures elsewhere.

Settle a trader

The trader posts the order in the chat. You settle it there, and the receipt stays in the thread.

Already in the app

Everything is built. Nothing here is a plan.

Messages and calls

End-to-end encrypted chats, voice and video calls, groups. The conversation stays with the people in it.

Status

Share a moment with your groups. Anyone can reply on a status, and the reply lands in the chat.

The purse

Pay in by bank transfer, pay out to any Nigerian bank account. The balance sits in the member's own name.

Ajo rounds

Schedule, contributions, whose turn and the payout all run in the thread. Every member reads the same record.

Marketplace and orders

A trader posts, the group buys. Orders and returns are tracked in the chat where the sale happened.

Bills

Electricity, airtime and data go out from the purse. The receipt is posted straight to the thread.

Also on desktop, from October.

How a round works

Twelve members. Twelve rounds. Everyone sees the same thing.

STEP 1
Pay in on the due date

Each member pays in the agreed amount for the round. The thread records it as a message.

₦12,000.00 per member, per round
STEP 2
Everyone sees who has paid

The count updates in the group. No one has to ask, and no one keeps a separate book.

8 of 12 paid
STEP 3
The round pays out

Whose turn it is receives the round. The next turn is already set, so the group moves on.

Round 4 · to Musa ₦144,000.00

Plainly

Your money stays in your name.

We build the chat. The money moves between accounts that belong to the people in it.

The account is in the member's own name.

Every purse is opened in the member's own name at a licensed partner institution. It is theirs, not ours.

Nowala never pools or keeps funds.

Money moves from one member's purse to another's. It does not stop with us on the way.

Messages are end-to-end encrypted.

What the group says stays with the group. We cannot read the conversation.

Payments move through a CBN-licensed partner institution, which we are not permitted to name publicly.
